Nicole Tadgell Art & Illustration

An award-winning children's book illustrator

Website

(WordPress)

Nicole works in watercolor when she illustrates children’s books. Her use of color and composition helps to capture a full spectrum of emotion in each character. I wanted her website to really showcase her skill and the beauty of her work with full-width backgrounds. Every element on the site was created from scans of Nicole’s work and doodles.

Online portfolio

(Divi)

Nicole’s work needed a way to be showcased on a per-book basis. The Divi project functionality allowed me to do this in a truly spectacular way.

The blog

(WordPress, Divi)

I wanted the blog to be easy to read and accessible to a wide-ranging audience from kids to agents. I used a font pairing reminiscent of print books and gave the blog a paper texture to really make the user feel like they were in the pages of one of Nicole’s works.

Branding

(Collaboration)

I used Nicole’s signature and decorative elements pulled directly from her sketchbooks. We worked together to find the best way to combine her art with my web layout skills to create a unique user experience.
