Privacy Policy

Effective August 1, 2018

Congrats and thank you for being the kind of person who reads a website’s privacy policy!

This Privacy Policy describes how your personal information is collected, used, and shared when you visit or make a purchase from (my “Site”). In the very simplest terms, I collect the minimum amount of data on my site to keep in touch or receive payments. This simple statement isn’t enough to cover me legally, though, so I have to provide a bunch of spooky legal jargon to cover my butt.

I don’t find this overly complex helpful for most people but I think I have found a happy medium.

On the left you will find the long and boring but legally required text, and on the right you will find a human-readable version explaining how privacy works on my site.

Personal Information I Collect

When you visit my Site, I automatically collect certain information about your device, including information about your web browser, IP address, time zone, and some of the cookies that are installed on your device.

As you browse my Site, I collect information about the individual web pages or products that you view, what websites or search terms referred you to my Site, and information about how you interact with my Site. I refer to this automatically-collected information as “Device Information.”

I collect Device Information using the following technologies:

  • “Cookies” are data files that are placed on your device or computer and often include an anonymous unique identifier. For more information about cookies, and how to disable cookies, visit
  • “Log files” track actions occurring on my Site, and collect data including your IP address, browser type, Internet service provider, referring/exit pages, and date/time stamps.
  • “Web beacons,” “tags,” and “pixels” are electronic files used to record information about how you browse my Site.

When you make a purchase or attempt to make a purchase through my Site, I collect certain information from you including your name, billing address, shipping address, payment information (including credit card numbers), email address, and phone number. If you sign up for email newsletters I may also collect your birthdate (month/day). I refer to this information as “Order Information.” I never have personal access to your payment information, which is transmitted securely by Wave Financial, Inc.

When I talk about “Personal Information” in this Privacy Policy, I am talking both about Device Information and Order Information.

Simple Terms

My website automatically collects anonymized information about your device to help me optimize my site’s design. If you order a gig, fill out a contact form, or sign up for newsletters I also collect your contact information.

I never have personal access to your credit card numbers or billing information. The only personal information I can personally view if you submit it voluntarily is your name, address, phone number, email, and birthday month and day (not year).

I use the Order Information that I collect generally to fulfill any orders placed through my Site (including processing your payment information, arranging for shipping, and providing you with invoices and/or order confirmations).

I also use this Order Information to:

  • Communicate with you;
  • Screen my orders for potential risk or fraud; and
  • When in line with the preferences you have shared with me, provide you with information or advertising relating to my products or services.

I use the Device Information that I collect to help me screen for potential risk and fraud (in particular, your IP address), and more generally to improve and optimize my Site (for example, by generating analytics about how my customers browse and interact with my Site, and to assess the success of my marketing and advertising campaigns).

Simple Terms

I use your information to get in touch with you, prevent fraudulent transactions, and process payments. I won’t even send you mass emails unless you’ve opted in. That’s it.

I share your Personal Information with three separate third parties to help me use your Personal Information.

For example, I use WaveApps, a web service offered by Wave Financial, Inc, to accept online payments. You can read more about how WaveApps uses your Personal Information here:

I use Google Analytics to help me understand how you use my Site. You can read more about how Google uses your Personal Information by clicking here. You can also opt-out of Google Analytics by clicking here.

I also use Campaign Monitor to send newsletters and advertising for my own services. You can read more about how Campaign Monitor uses your Personal Information here:

Finally, I may also share your Personal Information to comply with applicable laws and regulations, to respond to a subpoena, search warrant or other lawful request for information I receive, or to otherwise protect my rights. I will notify you by email before turning your information over to law enforcement when possible and make every attempt I can to block injunctions that prevent me from notifying you.

Simple Terms

I share your personal info with WaveApps to process payments, Google Analytics to assess my site’s performance, and Campaign Monitor to send newsletters.

I’ve you with provided links to their privacy policies so you can look them over.

Simple Terms

I don’t use behavioral advertising on my site but I share some helpful links to show you how to opt out of this anyway.

Please note that I do not alter my Site’s data collection and use practices when I see a Do Not Track signal from your browser.

Simple Terms

I don’t use tracking data so my site ignores Do Not Track beacons.
